I have been asked how to code the following scenario- patient comes in and states she believes she may have been sexually assualted a few days ago - was drinking with friends, then woke up later with clothes removed, and suspects she was taken advantage of. One of our providers states the code would be "altered mental status" for the loss of time and memory of events. I had suggested "V71.5, Observation following alleged rape or seduction" and possibly "V87.39, Contact with and (suspected) exposure to other potentially hazardous substances." since they will be ordering a date-rape drug panel.

Thank you in advance for any advice, regulations, tips, guidance.
