Hi,
I was wondering if I could get some help with something. I do coding for a large anesthesia practice and we have just moved to the Epic system. Our physicians are no longer able to enter the diagnosis and procedure into the chart, so we have to rely on the surgical tech who fills it out. We are finding most of them are the pre-op diagnosis, so we have relied on the operative note for this inofrmation. Well corpaorate compliance for the hospital group we work in did an audit and found that some of our diagnosis did not match the final pathology report for a definitive diagnosis. We are finding that every surgery has something go to pathology and we cannot hold all these records waiting on those reports, nothign would get sent out. Where can I find guidelines to show compliance that it is not necessary for ansthesia to wait on all path reports, or is it?
