I know that you cannot bill for an angiogram at the time of a LE intervention if a prior catheter based study has been performed. What about a Doppler or ultrasound done prior to intervention? Sometimes my surgeons will state that the Doppler demonstrates a stenosis or occlusion and that they will schedule an angiogram and possible intervention.

I am confused on whether or not to charge the angiogram they perform at the time of the intervention when there is no prior angiogram, but they knew about the occlusion.

Any advice would be helpful.
