Ultrasound Technicians are employees of the practice.
Ultrasound equipment is owned by the practice.
The Technicians write the reports/impressions - physicians finalize the read.
Who is the billing/rendering provider?

The billing/rendering is done under the physician who ordered & finalized. Just as if a nurse gave a flu shot the doctor ordered, you bill under the doctor.

When a NP orders the ultrasound, is the billing/rendering still one of the physicians?

Whichever provider ordered and finalized the ultrasound is the billing/rendering. Whether an MD, DO, NP, PA, etc. I used physician in my initial response really meaning provider.
