I am a new coder and try to read and code all reports from the previous day by the end of the next day. Basically I tried to have them coded and entered within 24 hours. Of course, if the procedures were done on a Friday or over the weekend I many not get everything coded on Monday. I generally do but sometimes I just can't. I do, however, make every attempt at having them done before 5 days have passed since the procedure dates. I just found out that a couple of the doctors are upset that it takes me 24 hours to code and release the charges. Is this time frame unreasonable? They aren't the only docs I code for and I don't know how much faster I can go. I try to code these doc's procedures first to keep the peace but I think they are being a bit unreasonable. Thought I would ask other coders what kind of feedback they are getting on the time it takes to code.

Thanks so much!
Sue
