different place of service/excision/repair

scenario -

patient had an excision done in a dermatology office in the morning. That same afternoon patient went to a plastic surgeon's office who performed the closure (2.6cm to 7.5cm). Can plastic surgeon code this as 12042? Does he need to use a modifier?????
 
Unusual case

How unusual ... why didn't patient just go to plastic surgeon to have the lesion removed to begin with?

Anyway .... plastic surgeon should code the repair, with dx of open wound.

Since the two surgeons are of different specialties, you shouldn't need any modifier.
