Hi,

Please help me in understanding the below scenario:

There is a coding guideline stating that when both CKD and ESRD are documented, we should code only ESRD.

When single or both kidneys are affected and are at the same stage (either both have CKD or both have ESRD) we can code ESRD.

But, When each kidney is affected and are at different stages. Eg Right kidney is having CKD stage 3 and Left kidney is having ESRD please advice how to code this? Since there is no laterality in codes and we have two kidneys.
