We had a patient who had a fistula creation done and is in a 90 global. Two months later, within the p/o period, the patient comes in the office with a thrombosed fistula and requires surgery the same day. Can we bill for the E/M or would this be considered a normal complication and be billed as a p/o visit or can you bill for the E/M in this case considering it resulted in a return to the OR?

Please clarify...
