If I have a patient that was discharged yesterday, but ended up spending the night because of other reasons, can the Dr. write a progress note for today explaining why the patient was not discharged yesterday and that the patient is suitable for discharge today? Does the discharge note have to have the exact day that they patient was discharged or is the follow up progress note enough?
