My provider had to discontinue a pelvic exam as she was unable to locate the patients cervix, but she had already completed the other parts of a Well Woman Exam. How do I bill this visit out? I thought I could append a modifier but the only thing I was able to fine was modifier -53 which is specific to procedures. I don't want my provider to lose out on a visit since she had already all of the other work up. Please assist, any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

I suggest that you read the preventive medicine services paragraphs in the CPT book. There is no reason not to bill a preventive visit because a full pelvic exam wasn't done. Modifier would not apply
