I am wondering what the appropriate CPT code would be when the physician is on call and needs to have a discussion with the patient. Example would be to discuss test results. Would the code, 98016 be appropriate to use?

Hi there, 98016 (which replaced G0212) can be reported if the patient contacts the provider. Calling a patient to give them their test results doesn't fit.

Thank you for your response. Would these calls be more inline as a telehealth call?

Hi, that depends on what happens during the call. I would say that if it meets the requirements for the code and your practice also has in-person test result review visits then it would be appropriate.
