Good day to all,

help me with the icd for perm a cth displacement used for dialysis.
little confused is it going with complication(996.76) or exchange catheter(v56.1)

thanks,
sunitha

A displacement is a mechanical complication - look at 996.1 since the permacath is a vascular catheter placed for hemodialysis.

If the encounter involved the replacement also use V56.1 and any associated condition.

996.7x is used for complications involving a clot, bleed, stenosis, pain... A complication of a urinary catheter (Foley catheter) or other GU device is assigned 996.76.
