DME Billing of pt. hurt on school grounds

I work at a DME doing some billing and have a teenager that was hurt on school grounds during school hours, received a DME item, and wanted to know if you bill the school's insurance or do you bill the patient's health insurance as primary? Anyone with advice is greately appreciated.

It would probably be worth a call to that ins co. to verify. I bill school insurances all the time. Unless the patient has Medicaid, Tricare or no primary insurance, they are always secondary. That's what I have noticed. Again, it's best to verify.
