Hello, I just finished school in May so I am a newbie! I was hired through by the site that I completed my externship which dose billing for DME equipment. Since becoming an full-time employee I have notice that we have been getting a lot of denials on E0217. The coding is done in another office and now I am left to work on the appeals that we receive in the office. The office that codes will have E0217 RR with a unit of 1 and the date only reflects 1 day on the claim form. For example, (07/28/14-07/28/14) The doctor has ordered E0217 for 7 days. My question is are the units suppose to be billed as 7 since its for 7 days or do I leave the units as 1 and have the dates to reflect 7 days? Also, the item is suppose to be an rental but on the delivery ticket it has purchased. Can they do that?? Please help me:confused:
