Hello,
I was wondering if I can get a feedback on this scenario. A DME product that's dispensed to a patient when this patient was in a skilled nursing facility and the staff was not informed about it. The patient has Medicare and Medicaid as secondary insurance. There is a signed ABN for Medicare. Does this still need to be written off or is it ok to bill the patient? Also, any suggestions on what to do or have worked for any of you guys to prevent this kind of scenario when patients don't tell the provider that they were in a nursing facility or home health care during the visit? It just doesn't' seem right for providers to write off all the time due to failure of patients telling information that's needed.
