Good morning,

I am billing for a urologist that was called in during an abdominal surgery and ended up also perfoming surgery. Do I need a modifier on the uro charge? I know it wouldn't be a 62 becuase they each did a different surgery, but am stumped on which I would need, if I need one at all.

Any guidance/help is appreciated.
Thank you

Kathleen

No modifier needed as far as being called into the abdominal surgery. Your Dr. is not assisting or a co-surgeon. 62 is for when 2 surgeons both function as primary surgeons performing independent parts of the same procedure.

Thank you. I understand that I would not use 62. But do I need a modifier for the surgery my urologist performed while the patient was already opened up for the unrelated abdominal surgery?
