I bill for hospitalists and have run into a situation with bundling of a CPT for surgery. The surgeon is under the same NPI as the hospitalist but they are two different specialties. Our claims dated after the surgery date have not been paid because they are hitting up against the CPT code 43279 (90 day global). Should we be adding a modifier to our E/M code even though these two physicians are in different specialties?
