when administering a h pylori breath test does the doctor need to be present in the office?

yes. they are only coming in for a follow up test after diagnosis and treatment.

If you are billing with the physician NPI as the rendering or supervising then he must be on site to be the rendering or supervising. Since nursing personnel do not have NPI numbers and the claim will reject if there is no NPI in 24J then there is no way to provide and bill for services without the physician in the office at the time of service.
