When billing for an assistant surgeon what necessary documentation is needed? I understand that it is not sufficient to simply list the assisstant's name in the heading of the op report and the surgeon is to specify what the assistant actually does. Is it acceptable for the surgeon to list the assistant surgeon in the heading and then state that "we" and then specify what procedure was performed?
