Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knew what needs to be documented to bill a duplex ultrasound? Does the heading of the report saying duplex doppler ultrasound enough or does their need to be certain wording in the report itself?
Thank you.

I am not a Vascular Technologist but here is in a nutshell what is the different between a Duplex Scan and a Doppler Scan of the Arteries.

Duplex scans include imaging of the arteries plus color flow (include all measurements)

Your Radiology Report SHOULD Say Duplex Scan of Lower Extremity Arteries was submitted for interpretation.

Doppler Scans include only imaging of the arteries plus measurements.

Your Radiology Report SHOULD Say Doppler Scan of Lower Extremity Arteries was submitted for interpretation.

For a Venous Scans it is almost the same but it has to include responses to compressions and other maneuvers that your techs should know.
