Does anyone know if a PA hospital visit requires a physician's signature on the round/discharge note? We are having a hard time finding something in writing and we have several PA visits that do not have Physician's signatures on them. Please help!! Thanks!

I think it depends on the state scope of practice for the PA. In Indiana all PA notes are required to be reviewed and signed by a physician within 24 hours.

Your hospital may also have a policy.

Same in Pennsylvania. All notes need supervising physician signature. Try the American Academy of Physican Assistants website, you can look up your state regs on there. It is a very good site.
