Hey All,
I have a question. My boss wants to do echos but lease out a tech and the machine. The Dr will read and interpret the results. I thought each would bill with the appropriate modifiers, we would bill the Drs portion and the tech would bill his. Someone else told me we would bill both components because we are paying for the tech and machine through a lease. I want to be compliant with this so does anyone have any insight?

Are you the organization that will be paying to lease a tech and the machine? If this is the case then you are paying for these services to be done at your company, then you would do the billing... That is my thinking, but I guess I do not know the background.

I work in a Gyn office and we bill our ultrasounds very similarly. We have techs that are contract employees that come in and do the sonograms and give a report to the doctor. The machines are ours. We bill for the whole sonogram since the techs are getting paid by us and not billing the insurance companies.
