I am auditing an E/M level 99214 with a chronic stable condition, 1 drug test/lab, and Medication Management. I think it is a 99213 but the provider is considering the DOPL Search for ADHD medication as an "Outside/External Record" reviewed and analyzed and Moderate for data reviewed. I explained the DOPL search is a tool/resource used to consider prescribing controlled substances but that credit is given under the Medication Management. The provider still disagrees with me and is wanting me to bill the 99214. May I get your input? Am I incorrect about the DOPL Search not being an external record for review? My understanding is it is not. I appreciate other auditors and coders input on this one?! Thank you all so much!
