Radiology report indicates u/s done to "locate" ileospsoas tendon; and "second" u/s for needle guidance for injection. Billed TWO services-conisdered one "diagnostic" for "locating" region and anatomy of hip and second for guidance for injection. Code reads for "...guidance for needle placement e.g. biopsy, aspiration, injection, localization...imaging supervision and interpretation..
This is a facility so they are trying to say there were TWO u/s done????? Help? Thoughts?; thanks!

If the radiologist dictated that the use of ultrasound was to locate the iliopsoas tendon, this is for the purpose of injection -- not to diagnose a problem. Only one US charge -- 76942 -- is appropriate here.
