How would you bill for two Mirena insertions in the same day. The first insertion was unsuccessful and had to be removed. The second insertion was performed by another Physician within the same practice on the same DOS. How do I bill this? With a 76 modifier? Also, can I bill for two Mirena codes J7302 for this patient since two were used?
Please help.
 
Mirena should cover the cost of the first IUD. Contact your rep. Then you would only bill the 2nd Mirena. If the IUD insertion was unsuccessful, then the procedure was not completed, so you wouldn't bill the first insertion; Just the 2nd, completed insertion.
