Can you code a dx on a claim from lab results that came back after the visit?

Do you mean can you bill for the results separately? If so, no you cannot.


If you mean can you hold a claim until after the Pathology report is received then yes. In fact, we wait for path before billing out excisions so we know which set of codes to use (benign = 11400-11446; malignant 11600-11646).
