I need some back up. When my docs bill fo a PICC and the reason is vascular access, I use code 459.81. When my docs do a PICC for long term IV antibiotic therapy, I use codes, V58.62 and the underlying reason for the need for antibiotics.

Is this correct.

I would code V58.81 fitting and adjustment of vascular catheter, then the
V58.62 for long term use of anitbiotics.

So you don't think 459.81 should be used when all we need is vascular access, the code V58.81 is a better code for that? I will start using that one.

no, I wouldn't use the 459.81 at all. That is other specified disorders of circulatory system. If you are coding the PICC, that would be V58.81
