I have a question on how to correctly code "spine asymmetry." 3M directs me to 756.10 (because its an unspecified part of spine), but this states "congenital." Do I give them a congenital dx ? or should I use 724.9 unspecified back/spine disorder?
Thanks for any help/suggestions.

I would advise against using a congenital ICD-9 if the documentation does not state it as congenital. 756.10 is good, but you might want to consider 756.19 or 742.59. There is nothing about spine under asymmetry, but ICD-9 directs to "distortion." :)
