Hello coders, In order to bill and E&M and cysto on the same day the E&M visit must be significant, separately identifable E/M service above and beyond the usual preoperative and postoperative care. Where can I find criteria for the usual pre and postoperative care of cpt 52000? If my provider documents that he reviewed CT films and reviewed urine cytology results its this above and beyond?

The basic rule of thumb is if the procedure is scheduled in advance then there is no reason for a separate E&M on the day of the procedure.
