In coding E/M visits do you have to document vital signs for behavioral health? I am new to behavioral health coding and am not sure.

In coding E/M visits do you have to document vital signs for behavioral health? I am new to behavioral health coding and am not sure.

Are you not using the time based codes for behavorial health? Has the provider documented the time?

We are using E/M codes for office visits and also using 90792 and 90791 for assessments. I was trying to find documentation that states whether you have to document vital signs on each E/M visit. I don't think you have to, I just wanted clarification.

No vitals are not required on each E and M.

Thanks! I listened to a couple of webinars yesterday and found that the only one you have to document vitals is the comprehensive visit.
