As a general rule, our patients are asked to return to our clinic after out-patient diagnostic exams (MRI's, CT's...) to obtain test results from our physician. This return visit may be on that same day, or sometimes it may be days later. What are the rules as to billing out a follow up visit for test results only? I realize it depends on the follow-up documentation, but sometimes I consider this a no-charge visit because we requested the patient to return for results, and other times I may charge the office visit if treatment is rendered. Help?
