Pt was seen first by one of our NP's for symptoms of a UTI. Patient mentioned to NP that she was also having Pelvic pain and NP wanted pt seen by MD. Patient ended up seeing MD on the same day for the pelvic pain. Can I charge an E & M for both visits on the same day? Pt was seen by NP for 15 minutes and saw MD for 30 mins. Would a prolonged service code come into play?

no you cannot bill both encounters you can combine both documents to see what level of care they add up to together, no you cannot bill prolonged time for this.
