Does anyone have experience with the following service on the same date of service?

When providing education & training for patient self-management by non-physician health care professional (98960, 98961, 98962), will governmental payers pay additional E/M services (follow-up office visit/exam) by a physician on the same date of service?

Any information and/or reference sites is appreciated.

If the provider is seeing the patient for a different reason other than what the training is for then yes, they should cover both visit. We sometimes have it where the provider sees the patient for their Asthma and decides that they need updated education and sends them to our RN who is a qualified education trainer. The RN documents on the same encounter but uses the HCPCS code S9441 instead of 98960-98962 and attaches it to the Asthma diagnosis. Our RN uses the 98960-98962 when the patient is scheduled to see the RN only for education training and does not see the provider.
