Do you know if there are any known rules or regulations that allow or do not allow an NP to perform just one specific payor's new patient examinations on patients within a practice? Or would he/she have to do them across the board for all insurances? We have a clinic that one side is chiropractic and the other side is medical and this question came up recently. And if the NP has performed a new patient examination, is the chiro provider allowed to do the re-examination or does the NP need to because he/she did the initial examination? The chiro side has a different group NPI number than the medical side, but they are under the same Tax ID.
