My provider wants to bill out a New patient E/M as well as the G0402 (Welcome to Meciare) code. The patient came in initially with prostate problems, however a complete work up was done including basic lab tests ordered, counseling done re: diet and current medications and prescriptions were written.

It is my understanding that once you use one factor in qualifying a code you cannot use the same to justify the other code as well. Such as the lab request; If used to justify the E/M you cannot use it for the G0402 also.

Any direction would be of great help, please.
