Quick question to clairify. So if a patient was not seen in office since 2008, but came in in 2011 for a Nuclear Stress test then seen afterwards and our provider billed a new pt would this be established because he was in for the treadmill? In the CPT book it states a new patient that is one who has not rec'd any professional services from the physician of the exact same specialty and subspecialty who belong to the same group practice w/in 3 years.
Thanks!

Was the provider face to face with the patient for the stress test or did they just read the results?

There has to be face to face professional work to establish. If they just read a test without seeing the patient that doesn't count as face to face.
