I recently took a job that requires me to verify the coding and "sign" or lock the note when it is ready to bill. I have never been asked to do this before so this seems very strange for me. However, the note is signed and the provider does agree to the documentation/coding when his note is submitted to me for verification. I am simply pushing a button that add their signature to the note and locks it from others being able to make changes. Is this practice compliant? Like I said it DOES get signed before being sent for billing so thats not the issue, its just that I am doing it rather than the provider. Thoughts?
