Hi
can anyone give me any guidance on how to code an 'ecmo wean' where the surgeon took the patient to the or, tried weaning the patient off the ecmo but was unable to do so. The surgeon decided to continue the ecmo support.
Since there is no cpt code for ecmo weaning (when successful) we code for the repair of the blood vessel, but with this scenario, there is no blood vessel repair done.

Unsuccessful ECMO weaning

Hello! I came across this question from 8 years ago..and am currently wondering how to code this in 2015. Would I use the appropriate ECMO removal code, but add a mod 52? Thanks!!
