Hello. I do pathology coding and today my co-worker came across a case for an ectopic bone formation. It was a calcified nodule in the tip of the thumb. Our pathologists classified it as 'new bone formation (woven bone), most consistent with ectopic bone formation. The best code we could associate with this was M89.8x4 - other specified disorders of bone, hand. Would you code the same or is there a better option we should have chosen?
