In regards to becoming an ED coder, where can I obtain the training?
Please help

Speaking from experience, its traditionally done on the job. There is no where in my area at least that trains ED coders and in the area I am in my office covers the coding for a large amount of the EDs here. We just train our own unless we get lucky enough to hire someone who has been trained by a previous employer.

The American College of Emergency Physicians has an annual ED coding conference. the first day or 2 are EdDcoding basics. Not exactly training but pretty good introduction to ED coding. You'd have to decide fast since it's next week in N.O.! I believe a couple of the ED coding gurus will provide training, but are expensive. Jim Blakeman of EGO does a very informative ED kind of boot camp. Jim S.
