Wiki ED Provider Documentation Question

Our ED providers documentation will often have a final diagnosis, but in the ED Course section it will state "suspected".

For example:

ED Course: low blood pressure, fever, altered level of consciousness, fast breathing. IV Meropenem given for suspected sepsis.

Final diagnosis: Sepsis

Our coders are disagreeing whether the final diagnosis of "Sepsis" overrides the "suspected sepsis".

What should the coding be?

Thank you
