Wiki Education and training hours on resume?

Hi, everyone. I have a question regarding education and training hours and whether or not they should be listed on my resume. In December 2024, I completed a Medical Billing and Coding (MBC) internship program. I received a certificate of completion which AAPC has approved to count as 1 years' worth of experience towards the 2 years of experience required in order to remove the "A" from the CPC-A designation. As I am a new coder, and the bulk of my previous experience is in medical records management, should I include the number of hours of medical coding training I completed, as well as the number of records I coded during the 9 month MBC training program and internship?

I think I probably would. Or, at least mention it in the cover. I don't think you necessarily have to include all the specific hours and # of records, just that you completed a X month Medical Billing and Coding (MBC) internship program with ____.

I agree with Amy - I'd mention the internship.

If being considered for an entry-level position compared to people with no experience at all, the internship could differentiate you.

A third vote to definitely include the internship. 9 months is a pretty long internship, especially if full time. An employer will realize that you may be recently trained, but do have some real world experience. If I had a position where I was willing to hire new coders, I would rank a 9 month internship as a really, really nice plus.

Good luck!!
