Need help with coding EEG's!!! Can you bill 95812 or 95813 instead of 95816 or 95819? I've been told two different stories 1- that I can only bill with one or the other codes and 2 that I can bill a 95812 with 95816 and use a 59 modifier. I tried billing both codes and the insurance will pay the 95812 and deny the 95816 as bundled...

Please help

Thanks!!!
Cheryl

Per CPT guidelines, Routine EEG codes 95816-95822 include 20 to 40 minutes of recording. Extended EEG codes 95812-95813 include reporting times longer than 40 minutes. Sounds to me you cannot mix and match.
