I am looking for some advice. I am finding conflicting information regarding the correct CPT code for an EGD with APC for a NON-bleeding AVM.

43255 or 43270?

I have found some discussions saying to use 43270, as the AVM was not actively bleeding at the time of APC. And the provider does not need to specify "ablation" to use this code. But I have also found it suggested to use 43255 regardless if the AVM is bleeding or non- bleeding at the time of the procedure.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Thank you in advance.

Hi I follow this......

45388/43270- No bleeding, TREATING THE AVM only

Vs

45382/43255- Treating the bleeding of AVM
Thank you Daniel. This would also follow the CPT Assistant, May 2023, Page: 23 Q&A, EGD Performed to control bleeding due to angiodysplasia guidance.
