Can anyone tell me if it is the norm to bill an EKG for each visit in your Cardiology clinic?
We have many patients who return for routine f/u's that are experiencing no symptoms yet there is an EKG being billed on each visit.

It becomes a normal practice to bill for an EKG if it has been documented within the patients chart to do an EKG for the dte of service that the patient is being seen. If there is no documentation from the physician ordering the nurse or any other assistant to do an EKG then you should not bill for the EKG.
