When my physicians refer to the elephant trunk technique, they are replacing the aortic arch. Is that what your surgeon did? I believe the elephant trunk is actually a graft. The code for this is 33870. This is only for the arch replacement. If the ascending aorta is done as well, you would code that separately (33860-33863).

Thanks Lisi. I asked the surgeon and you're right about 33870. He also did the ascending aorta so we used 33860 as well.
