There are new Telehealth E&M codes for 2025 . (98000- 98015)
For those ER coders out there who also work at a facility which sees emergent patients through synchronous audio/visual equipment will you all assign the new Telehealth codes (98000-98016)?
or will you continue to use the ED E&M codes 99282-99285 with modifier -95 ?

Hello.
I haven't exactly found an answer to your question, however, in researching my own question I determined this. Synchronous audio/visual appointments are usually for non-emergent situations. You know, standard routine care. Emergency codes, as you well know, are for....umm, emergencies. So the question, based on nothing than that, I would hazard an opinion that I would probably go with 99282-99285 with modifier -95. Part of the reason is because of the situation i questioned. Mine started out telehealth IN the ER then the surgeon came to the ER to take over. At first I wondered if it were a shared visit but the providers aren't from the same group so shared wasn't possible.
