v58.11 our oncologist asked if this could apply to chemo injections or with infusions solely?
he evidentally has patients who get chemo injections only no infusions...can someone explain rule behind?

I do the coding in a pediatric infusion clinic. We have patients that recieve chemo in various different ways. Some are soley IM/Sub-Q injections. If the chemotherapy is being done for maintenance/treatment of the disease then yes V58.11 would apply regardless of the method of administration.

that's what i thought we got challenged by my favorite oncology doctor...wanted to be sure my thinking was on the same page i assume if patient is coming in for chemo regardless of mode of administration it would be a v58.11 code.

thanks so much!
