Wiki Endoscopies during a global period

Hi,
I have a genera
l question. I work in an ENT specialist office and need to know how others are coding the global periods.

Example: A patient has a septoplasty and this has a 90 global period. They come in 2 weeks after their surgery to check their progress and for any complications. My physicians are routinely using cpt code 31231 during the global period, but using the post op coding or the code of deviated septum 470 that they originally had the CC of.

Any help or direction on this would be great. I feel that if this is part of care post operatively we should technically not be billing for the endoscopy, but I cannot find any literature stating which way this should be billed.

Thank you!
