I can't seem to find a code that would include endotracheal status. for example if a pt has a chest xray and there is nothing to report and it is really just to check the endotrach status or it was just noted. How does anyone else handle chest x-rays that have no definitive reason and the chest is normal?

Were there any other symptoms? I would look for the reason for the intubation. Do you have any documentation of respiratory distress in the chart? If they ended up on a ventilator you could look at V46.11, but you still need another primary diagnosis. Sorry, if that's not much help for you. It sounds like you might need more info to code it.
